A note on the words: aging is the steakhouse practice of holding beef under controlled cold for weeks so that the flavor concentrates and the meat turns tender. A chopped salad is one where everything is cut to the same small dice and tossed together, so it eats with a fork alone. German fried potatoes are potatoes sliced and fried with onion until browned at the edges, and a portobello is the large, fully grown brown mushroom. A magnum is the double-size bottle.

Peter Luger Steak House Tokyo on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hey, this is Hangover Meshi. This time it’s been a while since I’ve been to “Peter Luger Steak House Tokyo”!
A large steakhouse inside Ebisu Garden Place. It’s good whenever I go.

Seafood Platter (half): 12,000 yen
Luger’s Sizzling Bacon, Extra Thick: 1,600 yen
Luger’s Special German Fried Potatoes: 1,800 yen
Portobello mushrooms: 2,600 yen
The menu is as long as ever, but our style is to order a range of things a la carte!
We toasted with champagne! There were a lot of us, so we went for one of the big magnum bottles.

Seafood first! We took the half platter and shared it out between a few of us.
Fresh seafood, and it’s good! The shellfish and the shrimp are especially superb.

This one they portioned out for us. A chopped salad of tomato, onion and bacon. Bacon really is good.

The steak we’d been waiting for! As good-looking as ever.
There were bits and pieces of other cuts as well, but we had it all served out onto our plates together.

Mmm, that looks good. One bite, and the meat is tender with the savory juices flooding out.
American aged-beef steakhouses really are in a class of their own. Delicious. This is a flavor you can only get somewhere like this. The meat is dense, and it doesn’t look like much, but there’s real volume to it and even this much leaves you pretty full. Though of course we’d had the seafood and the salad before it, lol

The potato dishes are good too. Perfect as a side.

The seasonal pie was cherry, I think? And the famous whipped cream that keeps on coming is delicious as well.
Whipped cream this good is normally only the sort that’s spread on a cake, so having it heaped on with a flourish is somehow a treat!

I made sure to get a good amount served separately as well, and ate my way through it — and it doesn’t sit heavy at all! Delicious! I wish they’d sell it frozen, lol
Once again, delicious, and the volume is off the charts. By the time we stepped outside I was completely full. The walk to the station being a bit far is the one drawback, but this is high-quality steak of the kind that makes you want to come back regularly. Wonderful! I’ve had good steak, so I should be able to keep going for another few months. When my steak levels start running low, I’ll be back. Recommended!

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
