A note on the words: ofu curry is the velvety, European-leaning style of Japanese curry built on butter, caramelized onions and rich stock. Dry curry in Japan refers to seasoned minced meat cooked down with spices and vegetables; here, it is mounded on rice in the center of the plate, encircled by a moat of smooth ofu curry sauce.

SOLEIL on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. This time, I visited “SOLEIL,” an ofu curry spot (the European-leaning style of Japanese curry) on the first floor of the building where Hungry Heaven, the burger place I visited last time, is located. With another curry place nearby as well, this area might be something of a hidden curry hub! It had caught my eye ever since I came here for burgers!

The interior is very bright and welcoming.
Beef curry — 1,500 yen
Beef tongue curry — 2,500 yen
Chicken curry — 1,400 yen
Shrimp curry — 1,400 yen
Scallop curry — 1,500 yen
Cheese curry — 1,400 yen

Oh, they have quite a few varieties of curry.
After debating what to get, I decided on the dry curry.
After a little while, the dry curry arrived!
Ooh, looks delicious! Or rather than just dry curry, it’s dry curry & curry.

Dry curry sits on top of the rice, with curry sauce poured around the outside. It looks like Pakumori Curry, which used to be around Ichigaya back in the day, ha.
The dry curry portion has a spicy kick and plenty of richness, yet leaves a relatively clean impression on the palate.
The fragrant spices, the sweetness of slowly caramelized onions, and the moderate heat strike an exquisite balance.
Finely chopped bell pepper is folded into the curry as well, adding a nice accent to the texture.
Meanwhile, the ofu curry sauce draws you in with its rich, creamy mouthfeel. The aroma of butter and warming spices, coupled with a gentle sweetness, creates deep layers of flavor. The sauce has a pleasant body to it, coating the rice beautifully.
Working your way in from the outside with the curry sauce, and from the inside with the dry curry, breaking into it little by little, it is delicious.
A new curry experience that brings together two curries of distinct textures into complete harmony!

You can size up to large rice for an extra fee (+260 yen), so it’s great when you’re feeling especially hungry. Thoroughly satisfying.
It was a truly delicious curry. The shop is bright and easy to walk into, and you can choose your portion size.
For now, whenever the urge for curry strikes at lunchtime, heading over here means there are several tasty curry spots around, so you’ll never be at a loss. I’ll definitely come again — next time I want to go for the beef curry!

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
