GRANNY SMITH APPLE PIE Aoyama on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Right, this is Hangover Meshi. A shop I found while walking along Kottodori in Aoyama toward Omotesando on an errand. Passing right by it, it turned out to be an apple pie shop that looked good, so I could not help taking a look inside. I walk past it all the time but had never paid it much attention. On this day it looked extremely good ^^
In fact I had thought about having a cup of tea and eating inside, but it was more popular than I expected and the place was full!
Well, in that case I shall be heading home as soon as my errand is done, so I decided to buy a few to take away.

There appear to be around four standards, with the others running for limited periods.
The tiramisu is exclusive to the Aoyama shop, so I am rather curious.
And the three pies I chose this time are these!

- England Custard

This looks like the most basic apple pie of them!
It seems to have custard cream in it as well as apple, and alongside the soft, concentrated deliciousness of the apple, the custard cream is exquisite. Delicious. It is true that without the custard cream it might feel a little bare ^^
The lattice of pastry was rather charming.
And the “Granny Smith” apple pie in the middle is a limited edition.
It is a green apple pie, apparently (Granny Smith is a variety of green apple, so they say, ha)
And last, the tiramisu! This one is exclusive to the Aoyama shop.
The acidity of the mascarpone in the tiramisu and the cocoa powder combined with the apple make this a delicious apple pie too!
It said it is good chilled as well, and indeed, since this one has the character of a cake, it did not feel odd cold at all.
So: apple pies bought on a whim, and every one of them delicious!
Apple pie somehow feels like a winter thing, but with a cake-like apple pie exclusive to the Aoyama shop you could eat it all year round! Next time I may try having a warm one in the shop with a cup of tea ^^
