A note on the words: minestrone is an Italian vegetable soup, usually tomato-based, though this restaurant’s version leans richer and thicker than the classic kind. Prosciutto is Italian dry-cured ham, sliced thin and served raw. The lunch set here is built around a fixed A or B course, with B adding a main dish on top of a starter and pasta or bread.

ANTONIO’S Minami-Aoyama on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. I had an errand in Shibuya 3-chome. On the way back there was time to spare, and I thought — as far as Roppongi I could probably walk it. So off I went on foot, and this place caught my eye: ANTONIO’S. Ah yes, I had seen it from taxis and buses and had been meaning to try it once. I thought I may as well eat something, and in I went.

Since 1944! So this place has been going about eighty years lol
You can feel the years on it, but the room is very clean and pleasant. It was a weekday lunchtime, and here and there were people who looked to be having a lunch party. Perhaps it is a regular haunt of the ladies of Minami-Aoyama ^^
A lunch, 2,500 yen
B lunch, 3,900 yen

Right — I was not really in the mood for pasta, so I went for the B lunch, which comes with a main dish. You choose either the salad or the soup, but I wanted both, so I added a small minestrone on the side.
For the main you can choose between the sauteed house-made sausage, the codfish simmered in tomato Naples-style, the sauteed marlin and the veal parmesan. This time it had to be the sausage, I thought.
The set came with coffee as well, so I asked for an iced coffee and had them bring it first.

And alongside it, a glass packed with grated cheese ^^ As much as you like, then. Splendid.

That is big lol
My first impression was surprise at the size lol I had gone and ordered the soup too — would I be all right? ^^;;
A heap of lettuce, broccoli and mushrooms with prosciutto laid over the top.
It is not just greens either; there is a good range of things in it, so it really does have volume. The taste is outstanding, and the dressing clings just right. Yes, this salad is seriously good. Double the salad, skip the main, and a salad set meal alone would satisfy me.

Toast steeped in garlic and olive oil to the point where the juice runs when you bite it.

There are chunks of vegetable in it, but a good deal has dissolved into the soup itself.
The flavor is deep and it is seriously good. This is a professional’s minestrone, a little different from the ordinary tomato-based kind. Another hit! Delicious. Really, order both the salad and the soup ^^

House-made sausage! It looks good!
Inside its taut skin the sausage carries plenty of spice and herb, seasoned in a way that all but asks for a drink. This may well be delicious. It goes nicely with the garlic toast too. There is a solid meatiness to it, and even though it is only two sausages the volume was quite satisfying. I had the minestrone as well, after all ^^
The service was careful from start to finish, and even eating alone at lunch I found it a very easy place to spend time in. Well, if a place has kept going for eighty years, that must mean it is a fine restaurant. The salad and the soup were outstanding, so when you order the B lunch I think you had better add the minestrone!
I might come back one evening for a course, actually. It was delicious.

Tabelog lunch rating ★★★☆☆ 3.7
I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
