A note on the words: ayu is sweetfish, a slender freshwater river fish celebrated in Japanese summer dining for its delicate, sweet aroma, and kamameshi is seasoned rice cooked with savory toppings in an individual small pot. Manju here refers to a soft sweet-corn dumpling under a thickened sauce with soboro, finely crumbled minced meat, through it. bellota is said to be the top grade of Spanish Iberico pork, roasted here until savory and aromatic.

Shunju Tameike sannou ten on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. On this day I had dinner in Tameike Sanno at “Shunju Tameike sannou ten”, a stylish restaurant perched on the top 27th floor of Sanno Park Tower! Sanno Park Tower sits right beside Hie Shrine and is, I take it, an office building. Several elevators line the hall, but there is an express elevator running directly to the 27th floor, which I used. It is a relatively spacious elevator shooting all the way to the 27th floor in one go, which is quite fun in itself. Arriving on the 27th floor, the restaurant is set toward the back.

Stepping inside, expansive windows stretch all across the room, offering an excellent panoramic view. I see — around here, once you get up around the 27th floor the view completely opens up. This is quite a wonderful location. This time we had a private room, so we were guided further inside.
Standard course with 2.5 hours of free-flow drinks — 10,000 yen
Anniversary plan — 12,000 yen
Iberico pork and seasonal ingredients course — 7,900 yen
This time we chose the standard course with all-you-can-drink for 10,000 yen.
The all-you-can-drink lineup seems to cover the standard range. They said you can upgrade to include sake as well, but we kept it as is for now.

Ordering our first drinks right away, the course got underway.

An appetizer of scallop and roast beef, served in small cups and looking very nice.

They say the vegetables are organic, and they are crisp and tasty. If anything, the fish having just a very slight hint of fishiness caught my attention a bit.

This is sweet and delicious. The corn manju itself has a soft, chewy texture and carries the natural sweetness of corn, and the thick, savory soboro-mince gravy poured over it matches it brilliantly. This is truly delicious!

Apparently this was crafted based on the chef’s inspiration using today’s ingredients.
Grilled vegetables and fish. The fish is grilled plump and juicy, and tastes great. The bitter melon (goya) alongside makes a wonderful accent.

Iberico pork is an ingredient that appears quite often on this restaurant’s menu, so perhaps Iberico pork is their specialty. I wondered what bellota meant, but they say it refers to the grade of Iberico pork, with bellota apparently being the very top rank. It is nicely grilled, and perhaps from being charcoal-grilled, quite aromatic. And the fat of the meat is remarkably sweet and flavorful.

In the latter half, delicious dishes came one after another! Here is the ayu kamameshi. Of course I had never eaten ayu sweetfish cooked in kamameshi before, but look at that — a whole ayu laid right on top! The wonderful fragrance and savory umami of the ayu soak into the rice, making it delicious. Well now, ayu kamameshi is quite delicious! This was my first time having it, and it turned out great!

With 2.5 hours of all-you-can-drink, both drinks and conversation flowed freely, and in the latter half I felt I might have had a bit too much to drink, but the food was delicious and the view was great, making for a truly enjoyable time! The most memorable dish was definitely the ayu kamameshi. I haven’t checked, but I wonder if they ever serve just this for lunch? If so, I might just go for it, ha.
Shunju Tameike sannou ten (Japanese Cuisine / Tameike Sanno Station, Kokkai-gijidomae Station, Akasaka Station)
Tabelog dinner rating ★★★☆☆ 3.5
I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
