A note on the words: nodoguro, the blackthroat seaperch, is a small white fish that carries a great deal of fat. Yukhoe is the Korean dish of seasoned raw meat bound with an egg yolk. Umesuisho is shark cartilage dressed with pickled plum, a crunchy izakaya standard. Kamameshi is rice cooked and served in its own small iron pot. Ikura is salted salmon roe.

Domannaka Akasaka on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Right then, this is Hangover Meshi. Tonight’s drinking session is in Akasaka! At a seafood place called “Uogashi Domannaka.”

It is next door to Pasela on Misuji-dori ^^ Step inside and there are seats right at the entrance, which is a little tight, but the shop runs long and narrow. The further back you go the wider it gets ^^
Specially sourced nodoguro tasting course, with 2.5 hours of all-you-can-drink including ten premium sake, 9,900 yen
Spring seafood specialty course “Umaimon Kiwami,” with two hours of premium all-you-can-drink including 25 sake, 7,000 yen
Domannaka Umaimon course, with two hours of all-you-can-drink including ten selected sake, 6,000 yen
There are various courses, but I have a feeling — probably — that the strength, ha, of the all-you-can-drink differs in every one! Ten premium sake comes with the 9,900 yen, 25 sake with the 7,000 yen, and ten sake with the 6,000 yen, as I understood it. So let us be bold and go for the premium sake! And with that we chose the 9,900 yen course.
And the first thing that astonished me was the premium sake all-you-can-drink, ha.
It may well differ by the day, but this was the lineup on this one!
- Dassai
- Amaneko
- Hououbiden
- Hiroki
- Kamoshibito Kuheiji
- Masumi
- Hakurakusei
- Nabeshima
- Zaku
- Kokuryu
These are all famous sake I know very well! Having these on all-you-can-drink certainly is premium, ha.
So, sake ordered, and the course begins!

Something soupy first is always soothing!

Yukhoe of horse meat. The yolk wraps the sweet sauce in a lovely roundness and it is delicious ^^

Salad! Divided up between us.

Umesuisho, lightly pickled celery, and one more just out of frame that seemed to be a yukhoe of amaebi, sweet shrimp! Soft and sweet and delicious.
All of them go extremely well with sake, so the sake goes down at a fair clip (a good thing).

And then — ta-daa!!!
Sashimi! Does that not look good! Nodoguro, sea bream, tuna, and something that looked like a blue-backed fish. Properly piled on and lavish!
The nodoguro carries plenty of fat and it is delicious! As you would expect of a fish-market place. The fish here is good.

Next, tempura. A fair number of items, is it not. I rather think I shall end up full.

The grilled nodoguro!
How lavish is this, ha. It is a smallish nodoguro, but it carries a great deal of fat and has enormous savor, and it is delicious.
The fat is simply superb, and pairing it with sake, which rinses it cleanly away, is delicious in turn.

This too gets divided up between us.
Still, it does have quite an impact at first sight! A fair amount has come out by now, I think, so there is a real sense of having had enough.
Thoroughly satisfied! Or rather — I have drunk far too much sake!
That sake lineup on all-you-can-drink, for 9,900 yen. Plus a course with this much volume, all built around nodoguro — is that not extremely good value?! Well played, Akasaka Domannaka. I shall keep this place in mind and bring along someone who loves sake next time! It was delicious!

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
