A note on the words: Corridor-gai is the name of the strip of bars and restaurants along here, between Shinbashi and Ginza. Shabu-shabu is the hotpot where you swish thin slices of meat through simmering broth at the table.

Right, this is Hangover Meshi. I had a bit of time on my hands and thought I would have a light drink, so I walked from Shinbashi toward Uchisaiwaicho. This street is called Corridor-gai, apparently. There is a lamb shabu-shabu place I go to along here as well, so I do come now and then. This time, from among those shops, I stopped in at what I take to be a wine bar giving off a rather stylish air — “Gappo.”
Step inside and it is a stylish space!
Italian and wine bar in feel, then.
Keeping it light, I decided on wine and a few snacks to go with it as the mood took me.
If they have wine, let us have the wine! And so I asked for the white Patch wine.
“A flavor where the softness of Chardonnay and the freshness of Sauvignon are in harmony”
— so ran the description, and it was an easy-drinking, delicious wine.
A bucket of shrimp! You see something like this and you order it, do you not!
Steamed shrimp and fried shrimp served together, piled into a bucket.
For a start, you absolutely should order this! The steamed shrimp are plump and sweet, and the batter on the fried ones is extremely crisp!
I had thought, well, anyone would order this on sight — and it turns out it is their signature dish. Of course it is.
Now then, how much was it, ha.
It cannot have been that expensive, though!
Fresh oysters! A squeeze of lemon and down they go.
Mmm, delicious! No fishy note at all, very easy to eat, and above all, wine and oysters — that really is against the rules… What they bring in changes with the season, it seems, so next time I should like to try ones from a different area.
That was delicious!
So: three glasses or so of wine, and shrimp and oysters. Delicious!
I used the place for a quick drink with seafood and wine, and the mood is good and the snacks are good, and I feel I had a very fine time of it! I should like to come and drink here properly when I have a bit more time. I shall be back.
