A note on the words: yakiniku means you grill your own bite-sized cuts of meat over a burner set into the table. Nomihodai is a fixed-price, all-you-can-drink window that comes bundled with the course. Tan is beef tongue and tan-moto is the thick base of it, the part cooks prize most. Namul is a Korean side of seasoned vegetables, and kimchi needs no introduction. Ikura is salmon roe. Yaki-shabu means a paper-thin slice cooked for a moment on the grill rather than swirled in broth. Trippa is honeycomb tripe. Yaki-suki is grilled beef eaten sukiyaki-style, dipped in raw egg yolk and wrapped around rice.
NIKU-AZABU Roppongi on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hey, this is Hangover Meshi. I feel like my yakiniku rate has been seriously high lately. Whenever I ask someone what they want to eat, yakiniku is what comes back, lol. This time it’s a yakiniku place right beside the Roppongi crossing, “NIKU-AZABU.” It’s exactly the kind of spot for grilling meat while talking loudly and having a good time.

Most popular!! “Omakase Course — Summer” 3,850 yen
Summer Special Course 5,280 yen
Summer Course with all-you-can-drink 7,330 yen
★Kiwami★ Ultimate Course with all-you-can-drink 8,470 yen
Really cheap…!
At that price the Ultimate Course with all-you-can-drink looked doable, so that’s what we picked.
First, the dipping sauces. They explained each one, and even if you don’t remember, every time they bring a cut of meat they point and say
“This one!” — so it’s easy. No need to worry about it!

The three-item appetizer platter: kimchi, potato salad and namul.
Things came out so fast that the order gets a little scrambled here, lol.

Bite-sized pieces of beef with ikura and balsamic.

Kenmi-dori chicken from Yamanashi Prefecture, killed that morning, and…

this is probably the finest cut of tan-moto!

Right, let’s start throwing things on the grill.

And this is seared beef nigiri made with A5-grade sirloin.

Yaki-shabu of Joshu Seseragi pork loin.

Meltingly soft trippa in a clear soup. You grill it first, then it goes into the soup.

Grilling away!

Wagyu fillet!! — with a special sea urchin cream sauce. That was the name of this one on the menu.

This is the killer move, I think — yaki-suki. You wrap it around rice and eat it.

At the end, they call it a bite-sized curry but a pretty decent amount of curry turns up, lol.
I was already full, but somehow I finished it! So stuffed!
So, yakiniku places swing wildly from one to the next, but for this price, with chicken and pork included, that’s a serious amount of food. And all-you-can-drink on top of it at that price makes this a really good place! You can be as loud as you like, and places like that are genuinely useful. Next time I’m out with people who drink a lot, I’m coming here! It was fun!
NIKU-AZABU Roppongi (Yakiniku / Roppongi Station, Nogizaka Station, Roppongi-itchome Station)
Tabelog dinner rating ★★★☆☆ 3.3
I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
