Do Miso Tori: I Panicked at the Ticket Machine and Ordered the Miso

A note on the words: tori paitan is a rich, creamy white broth extracted by simmering chicken bones at high heat, and tsukemen are dipping noodles served with concentrated soup on the side. Chashu refers to braised or roasted sliced meat toppings, here spanning both pork and chicken.

Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. Takaracho? Kyobashi? A ramen shop suddenly appears near the intersection of Showa-dori and Yaesu-dori, which stretches straight out from the Yaesu exit of Tokyo Station. Nothing but office blocks around it, so it feels a little out of place. The shop name features the characters for “Do Miso,” that famous miso ramen brand! Its full name: “Tokyo Style Tori Ramen Do Miso Tori”. How could I not be curious about a place like this? So I promptly headed in.

Do Miso Tori

Inside, there is a counter and a few tables. It is a cozy, compact shop, but the wonderful aroma of soup fills the air and makes it smell so good!

Do Miso Tori

Paitan, miso, tsukemen, and the mysterious Saito Keijiro. While I was cycling through my options wondering what to pick, the next customer arrived!
With ticket machines, when pressure arrives from behind, you really cannot linger over your choice, ha. So purely on reflex, I chose the special chicken miso ramen! After all, when you think “Do Miso,” it has to be miso!

Customers kept trickling in one after another. It is quite a popular shop.

Ohhh, it looks delicious!
It is loaded with toppings! Three kinds of chashu: pork shoulder loin, chicken breast, and seared pork belly.
The red cabbage, the green of the scallions, and the egg make a lovely color contrast! The presentation is superb.

Taking a sip of the soup, the combination of chicken paitan and miso feels somewhat novel.
At any rate, it is rich and delicious. The pairing with thick noodles in the Do Miso style is outstanding too! Mmm, this might just be really good.

The soup is rich and assertive, but I feel it is more the kind of ramen where you really dig in and eat the hearty toppings.

Thank you for the meal!

Still, being “Do Miso,” the miso was reliably good and satisfying. My conservative streak showed through here, but I think the chicken is supposed to be the real specialty, so the special chicken paitan ramen is what I plan to order next time I visit!

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
