A note on the words: samgyetang is the Korean whole-chicken soup, the bird stuffed with glutinous rice and simmered until it falls apart. Banchan are the small side dishes set out alongside a Korean meal, and namul is the seasoned vegetable kind. Gochujang is the fermented Korean chili paste. An onsen egg is one cooked slowly at low temperature until the white is barely set. Omotesando is the tree-lined avenue between Harajuku and Aoyama. Prices are as of this writing (August 2026).

shiari samgyetang on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. I heard there was a samgyetang specialist in Omotesando, so I thought I would drop in and try a little. It is fairly deep into Omotesando — somewhere between there and Gaienmae, I suppose, in terms of position. The exterior is extremely stylish, and I wonder whether the theme is art and samgyetang fused together. A stylish space with counter seats only lol

Samgyetang 2,700 yen

Only the samgyetang set, with six banchan!
Nice and clear. You sit down, they tell you in a word that this is all there is, and the serving begins!
That said, there are drinks including alcohol, so I thought I might as well have one and ordered a beer.

TERRA beer. I do not think I have seen it much, but apparently it is popular in Korea.
Well, if you are pairing it with samgyetang a Korean beer feels right. The impression is of a light, easy-drinking beer that goes down smoothly.

The condiments are gochujang, harissa and lemon pepper.
And here, the six-dish banchan set to start.

Right — from the top left, bean sprout namul, napa cabbage kimchi, scallion vinaigrette. From the bottom left, carottes rapees, red cabbage choucroute, and a Korean-style onsen egg. A set combining French-feeling dishes with Korean-feeling ones, and very stylish. The colors are pretty and it looks good on the counter.
After a while, the samgyetang!
Bubbling away and looking wonderful!!!

There is glutinous rice inside, I was told, though you can also have rice on the side!
Well, if there is glutinous rice in it then perhaps no rice is needed, I thought, and took the samgyetang alone. One sip of the broth and it is delicious!
The gentle chicken flavor is very good. A gentle broth that would suit a hangover too. The seasoning is finished extremely light, so if you want more you can add a little and get it just right.

The chicken falls apart, cooked soft and delicious.
There is a good deal of glutinous rice and grain inside, so this alone would fill you up.
Samgyetang really is good. Adding gochujang partway through brings heat and turns it into something different. Too much of it clouds the broth, so it may be better to put it directly on the chicken. The lemon pepper was very good. The harissa and gochujang are better added toward the end, I thought^^ Since they are strong.
Satisfied! Delicious!
Mmm, that was good! It shows what a samgyetang specialist can do. A stylish space, and perfect for lunch alone or a quick dinner. There is only one dish, but if this were near my office it would certainly join the lunch rotation. When it gets cold again I shall come back. Recommended!

Tabelog dinner rating ★★★☆☆ 3.5
I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
