Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Teppan, Ginza: A 15,000-Yen Private Room Course, with the Teppan Out of Sight

A note on the words: teppanyaki refers to dishes cooked on an iron teppan griddle, though here the course was served in a private room away from the counter grill. Akaushi is Japanese Brown cattle, a prized beef breed known for lean, flavorful meat, offered here as the alternative to US Prime beef. Shime is the traditional finishing dish of a meal, which in this course took the form of a small bite of curry.

Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. This time I was in Ginza! And visiting Wolfgang’s Steakhouse — teppan style. I was looking forward to it since teppan grill style is a bit different from usual. The closest station is Ginza-itchome, though Kyobashi is not far at all. It sits on the 7th floor of Kirarito Ginza (a shopping building), right in front of Ushigoro, a yakiniku restaurant on the same floor.

My table this time was in a private room, so while it was teppan style, it wasn’t right in front of the teppan grill, ha.
Still, if you want a leisurely meal, a private room might be the better choice!

[Private Room Exclusive Plan] PRIVATE ROOM COURSE 15000 — 15,000 yen

This time I went with the private room exclusive 15,000 yen course. The volume is on the lighter side, so the idea was to add dishes as I went!

PRIVATE ROOM COURSE 15000

To start, a highball.

I would have liked Hakushu, but Hakushu was sold out! A pity!

Assorted seafood (extra order)

Assorted seafood (extra order)

I had them bring out the assorted seafood platter with lobster and shrimp before the salad.
Plump, bouncy shrimp and a hefty lobster — delicious.

Bacon (extra order)

And then, bacon. Wolfgang’s bacon is always delicious! We had them cut it in half to share one between two.
The sizzling fat and all, it is just delicious! You really have to order this here…!

Today’s salad

And finally, the salad from the course.

The dressing on this was nice too. There was a decent amount of it, and between the seafood, bacon, and salad, I was already surprisingly satisfied.

Akaushi

For the steak, you can choose between 100g of akaushi (Japanese Brown cattle) and 150g of US Prime beef.
They ask you at the start, and thinking I would get quite full, going with the akaushi turned out to be the right call!

Akaushi

Ah, Wolfgang’s meat really is delicious!
Tender, with a deep, rich flavor. The fillet is great, but the sirloin is fantastic too. It is teppanyaki style, and yet so not being able to watch them grill it was a little disappointing, but the beef was so good I was completely satisfied! 50g plus 50g for 100g in total was just the right amount…

Wolfgang’s special curry

And for the shime, a small bite of curry.

And this curry is delicious!

The roux is packed with beef umami and has a hint of sweetness — so good! It felt almost like an upscale, carefully made homemade curry, ha.

Fire Crepe Ice Cream (extra order)

Fire Crepe Ice Cream (extra order)

I ended up ordering dessert too.

The Fire Crepe Ice Cream! Apparently they usually make it while setting it aflame on the teppan grill, but as before, I could not watch the fire, ha. The combination of chunky pineapple, crepe, and the vanilla ice cream inside was wonderful.

Wolfgang’s special whipped cream too! This stuff is so delicious. I wonder if they sell it.

Thank you for the meal!

So that was the teppan-style Wolfgang’s. Wolfgang’s really is delicious, isn’t it? Though if you are doing teppan style, it might be better to sit in front of the teppan grill, ha. If you are with a large group, I suspect the regular Wolfgang’s might be fine too. It was great to recharge on delicious beef for the first time in a while — or maybe “remeat” rather than recharge!

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
