A note on the words: chashu is braised sliced pork commonly laid across bowls of ramen, here sliced thin, soft and juicy. Ginger-soy ramen infuses a classic dark soy-sauce broth with ginger, cutting through a generous layer of oil to deliver an assertive, warming punch.

Aoshima Shokudo Akihabara on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. I had always wanted to visit this place! That is right, “Aoshima Shokudo” in Akihabara. Having some free time on my hands, I wondered if I should head somewhere worth waiting in line for, and this shop came to mind. It seems they open around 11:00, so I arrived right around eleven. More than ten people were already in line, but since it is ramen I figured the wait would not be too long, so I joined the queue.

It is ginger-soy ramen! Ordinarily I would notice the massive lines whenever I walked past and gave up, but this time I had the time! I was prepared to wait. It took about 10 to 15 minutes, I think. I was able to get into the shop pretty quickly.

This time I went with the Aoshima chashu and added the boiled spinach topping.
Once you buy your ticket, there comes a moment when the staff call out to ask what you ordered, and you show them your meal ticket. Good eyesight on them considering they were standing quite far away.
And after a short wait, I was guided to a seat, and the ramen appeared.

Hm, I see. It has something of an old-school soy ramen feel to it.
Taking a sip of the broth, it is ginger-soy.
There is quite a lot of oil, so it is a soy ramen with plenty of punch. Still, the saltiness is not that strong, I think.
Because I added the topping, there is a generous heap of spinach, making it quite substantial!
The chashu slices are thin, and tender and very juicy with it. This thinness is just right!

The noodles have quite a solid, sturdy feel.
These noodles have real presence, and they hold their own even within this broth.
I see, so this is what it is like.
It is delicious, and I can see why people line up. It feels like the kind of flavor you find yourself craving every once in a while.
I finally made it to the ramen shop I had longed to visit. It was certainly delicious, but I might have liked the saltiness a touch stronger for that extra hit. Or maybe piling on the toppings diluted it, ha.
If the line is not too long, I thought I would not mind coming back again.

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
