Hey there, Hangover Meshi here. So, this time: right next door to Roshuho! I stepped out of Roshuho, looked up at the building beside it, and what do you know — there was an Asian curry place. Might as well give it a try, I thought. So into Saurya Asian Dining & Bar, a Nepalese curry restaurant under the railway viaduct in Okachimachi. You climb a narrow staircase from the entrance, and up there is a small but clean, tidy room.

So many different curries! Quite a serious menu!
They all look good and it is hard to choose. And on top of that, the drinks list has Nepalese whisky and rum and so on, which is somehow just fun!
The first thing I ordered was Nepalese whisky!
A bottling called Old Durbar Black Chimney.
I had it as a highball!
It has a fruity, slightly sweet aroma to it. Well now, this is good!
Nepalese whisky is unexpectedly worth a go.
When I ordered, they said: if you are eating it as something to drink alongside, shall we make it a little drier?!!!
What a wonderful place this is. So here is the mutton curry, finished on the drier side.
A curry with more liquid to it is of course delicious, but if you are eating it alongside drinks, this is the easier one to work through!
The instant I put a bite in my mouth, the rich spices tickled my nose! The mutton, simmered until tender, has its savor concentrated in it and is astonishingly juicy. Deep body and just the right amount of heat, balanced beautifully — truly a mouthful of happiness! It goes well with the highball, too.
And then I took on Nepalese rum.
What I ordered was the spiced rum from something called Khukri Rum, with soda.
A sweet rum aroma with a sense of spice in it too — very good.

This one is loaded with meat and substantial. It pairs perfectly with the rum!
The meat has real chew to it, and the more you chew the more savor comes out! It has been thoroughly steeped in spices — delicious!
So, I had a curry while drinking a bit along the way, and it was seriously good.
And the prices are quite reasonable. There are halal shops around here too, so meat and fresh spices are probably easy to get hold of. Is this place not, in fact, a hidden good one? It really is delicious, so I honestly recommend it! Being able to drink Nepalese liquor is great too. It has become one of the places I would love to stop by next time I am in the area!
