A note on the words: warabimochi is a soft, jelly-like Japanese sweet made from starch and usually dusted with roasted soybean flour. Namja Town is an amusement park inside the Sunshine City complex in Ikebukuro, and admission to it is charged separately from anything you eat. Prices are as of this writing (August 2026).

Today I was invited out to Namja Town in Ikebukuro Sunshine City! I went a long, long time ago, but it feels as though it has changed a great deal! I had the impression it used to be spread over two floors, and now it is only one. The attractions seem to have thinned out quite a bit too. The gyoza are still there though lol
But today it is not gyoza lol
This place, “miquette icecream”!
It is an ice cream shop, but everything is cats and it is unbelievably cute lol

I did think about having ice cream, but then this drink caught my eye.

The warabimochi drink. Visually it is a little weaker than the ice cream, but it looked good.
Something about it has a Chocolixir feel. The base is a thickened strawberry milk. Put the straw in and the small warabimochi that have sunk to the bottom of the cup come sliding up. They are chewy, and the moment you bite they melt away. Something like this now and then is rather nice.
The sign said the warabimochi drink is best if you give the whole thing a stir before drinking, but as a whipped-cream lover I want to eat them separately! It is sweet above all, so it does leave you thirsty in a way, but for a body worn out from walking this merciless sugar hits just right!
This time we were doing a stamp rally of sorts, hunting for stamps hidden around Namja Town, and I could not find them at all, so I walked an enormous amount lol If you find yourself wanting something sweet inside Namja Town at a moment like that, this is my recommendation!
