A note on the words: Hibiya sits between the Imperial Palace moat and Ginza, and its station connects to a long underground passage that this article makes good use of. The Chocolixir is GODIVA’s blended frozen chocolate drink, sold in R and L sizes. Shokupan is the square white loaf sold in thick slices in every Japanese bakery. Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. Well, it has been getting hot lately, and the drink for exactly this kind of heat is the GODIVA Chocolixir! In fact I love it regardless of the weather. Is it not extremely good? I do think it is a little expensive, but prices have gone up across the board recently and it has rather caught up with everything else. It is worth that much anyway. Because it is delicious.
Normally I buy one at a GODIVA counter, or at one of the shops that sells nothing but Chocolixirs, but apparently there is a cafe.
And in Hibiya, of all places! That is very close! So off I went. The GODIVA cafe in Hibiya.
Enormous windows, bright, a lovely branch! And is it an undiscovered corner? It was very quiet lol
To put the location simply, it is above the Lacoste store. With a little effort you can get there from Hibiya Station through the underground passage without going outside lol
Chocolixir: R 764 yen, L 896 yen
There are branch-only items, and cakes as well — excellent!
It is hot, so take on some sugar and rest a while.
So I sat at the corner with the biggest window and waited for my order.
I actually bought another one as well, but they seem to have got the percentage wrong and remade it for me.
And the cakes, at the front: the Chocolat Roll (510 yen) and the mini chocolat shokupan (490 yen).
For someone who loves Chocolixirs this is rather an odd choice, I admit.
But I do love strawberry…
The Chocolat Roll was packed with cream inside and it was delicious!
And this is the Hibiya branch exclusive, apparently, and made in limited numbers: the Crepe Roll Chocolate Banana!
There is chocolate worked all the way through it and it is very rich. Banana usually has quite a presence in this sort of thing, but the chocolate has just as much presence, so the two settle nicely together. It is also fairly substantial, so it fills you up.
Whether by chance or because nobody has noticed it yet, the room was fairly empty and extremely comfortable. Get out of the sun outside, let a cold Chocolixir take the sweat off you, then head on to the next thing — I thought it suits that use perfectly. And on the way back to Hibiya Station you can cool off here and then walk home through the underground passage, which is very convenient. Recommended!
