A note on the words: century egg, called pidan, is a duck egg cured until the white turns to dark jelly. Sambal is the Southeast Asian chili paste, and kangkong, water spinach, is the green usually stir-fried with it. Mantou are the small steamed or fried buns you use to mop up sauce. Phat phong curry is the yellow curry Thailand cooks crab in, and kou shui ji, mouth-watering chicken, is the Sichuan cold chicken dish under chili oil and aromatics. Meiji-dori is one of the main avenues running through Shibuya. Prices are as of the visit (August 2025) and are listed as the shop had them then.

Right, this is Hangover Meshi. This time, Singaporean food in Shibuya! The shop is called Shiten Keihan, and since someone recommended it to me as good, off I went! It is right by Shibuya Station as you come out! On the second floor of a building along Meiji-dori. The windows are big, so you get a good view of the street.

The staple dishes are written up on a blackboard! There seems to be plenty, so I decided to order whatever I fancied as I went.

Shiten Keihan menu
The a la carte dishes I ate
A glossy black egg. Something I keep finding myself ordering lately.
Water spinach stir-fried with sambal. The mildly spicy seasoning suits a drink.
The signature dish: choose shrimp or soft-shell crab, then choose from five sauces — black pepper, chili, butter, white pepper or phat phong curry. Served with mantou.
Mouth-watering chicken under a heap of aromatics. The chicken is plump and springy.
Springy wood ear mushroom and egg stir-fried in a light broth.
Three sauces — ginger, chili sauce and a soy-based one — plus cilantro. Juicy chicken over jasmine rice.
A snack ordered to finish on.
Besides these I also ordered the summer roll, filled with a corn paste scented with cumin, and a draft beer (prices as listed on the day).
※ These are the menu prices at the time of my visit. Dishes and prices can change, so please check in the shop for the current ones.
Beer! Beer! When it is muggy out, a draft beer!

They give you a snack. Boiled peanuts, I think?

Taiwanese century egg. Somehow I find myself craving century egg lately. Good stuff.

Water spinach stir-fried with sambal, apparently.
The faint chili heat of the sambal goes with a drink like nothing else.

It is not a spring roll, it is a summer roll lol
This is a summer roll, but I have been hooked on spring rolls lately. If I see them on a menu I will always order them.
And this summer roll has, naturally, a crisp outer skin, with a corn paste coming juicily out of the middle. The scent of cumin is refreshing! There is a curry quality to it, which feels summery. Good!

This one is seriously good. You absolutely should order it!
You choose shrimp or soft-shell crab and they stir-fry it in a house sauce. There are plenty of sauces to choose from, too,
- Black pepper sauce
- Chili sauce
- Butter sauce
- White pepper sauce
- Phat phong curry
and this, I think, was the phat phong curry. It really is a proper phat phong curry, the yellow crab curry!
In Singapore, restaurants always tell you to order mantou (meaning: this sauce is so good, mop up every last bit of it), and here too they duly recommended it. You eat it wiping up the sauce with fluffy mantou^^

Mouth-watering chicken under a heap of aromatics. I see — so this is how you do it: shower it with minced scallion and sesame and it tastes like this.
I shall try it at home next time! The chicken is plump, springy and good.

Springy wood ear mushroom and egg, stir-fried in a nicely judged broth. Good^^

Having eaten a fair amount by this point, I was getting quite full! There were three of us, and they offered to split it into three portions with the three sauces on, so that is what we did. Ginger, chili sauce and a soy-based sauce. The standard three sauces, plus cilantro! One bite and — mm, that is good. Very juicy chicken over jasmine rice that carries both the scent of jasmine and a firm chicken stock. How on earth do you get it that plump and springy? Anyway: delicious!

The last snack I ordered!
Well, I rather overate. Thoroughly satisfied! I had also been drinking a serious amount throughout, so my head hurt a good deal the next morning^^ Every dish was properly done and very good, and the room is easy to talk in. You would hardly believe you were in Shibuya. A lovely place that leaves you feeling as though you have popped over to Singapore, so I shall be back! Highly recommended!

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
