A note on the words: bhuna mutton is a deeply spiced curry where mutton is fried with spices over high heat until coated in a thick, concentrated sauce, while mutton curry here is a milder, saucier stew with chunks of mutton. Naan is a leavened flatbread baked against the inner wall of a tandoor clay oven until blistered and chewy, and tandoori chicken is chicken marinated in yogurt and aromatic spices before being roasted in the same intense heat. Lassi is a chilled yogurt-based beverage, here flavored with sweet mango puree.

Moti Akasaka TBS-mae on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi.
It is starting to get sizzling hot out there.
Thinking over what to have for lunch, I got a craving for curry from “Moti”, so I headed straight out in front of the TBS building in Akasaka!
It feels like quite a while since my last visit to Moti. It is on the 3rd floor of a building at the intersection in front of TBS. There is an elevator, but if it is the 3rd floor, climbing the stairs is simply easier. Inside the restaurant there is no air conditioning! But the windows are open, so a cool breeze blows through and it is quite comfortable. That said, I have a feeling things might get tough once the rainy season ends, ha.

To tell the truth, what is really delicious here is the bhuna mutton — if I have the name right — a spicy mutton curry. That is what I was in the mood to eat, but the lunch menu is limited, which is a bit of a shame. I chose the mutton curry, the closest thing to it. With naan, of course! For drinks, you can choose from lassi, iced tea, coffee, or oolong tea. Well, lassi is the obvious pick, ha.
And while placing the order, I suddenly wanted tandoori chicken too, so I added that as well!
And so, first to arrive were the lassi and salad.

The lassi turned out to be mango lassi, ha. And on the salad, this dressing is delicious.
A slightly spicy one. With a dressing like this, any vegetable tastes good — I wonder if they sell it somewhere.

Tandoori chicken! Depending on the cut it can sometimes be dry, but I think I lucked out this time!
Spicy tandoori chicken is delicious! The fragrant char on the edges along with the spices, and succulent, juicy chicken on the inside — fantastic.

Then, the mutton curry arrives.
Compared to something like bhuna mutton, the heat is a bit dialed back, you see.
Well, that said, taking a bite, it is overwhelmingly delicious.
That is just how it is — Moti’s curry really is good.
The chunky pieces of mutton are great. The meat is on the firmer side, but not so tough you cannot chew through it.
The savory flavor just spreads. Delicious!

And then, the naan. It is huge, ha. The naan is delicious too, you know.
Wonderfully chewy.
However, it really is fresh out of the oven, so it is scorching hot — do watch out there, ha.
So it had been a while since I last visited Moti, but it was delicious! I want to come back at night to eat bhuna mutton again!
Actually, I seem to remember seeing them on Demae-can as well, so having it delivered could be an option too! I want to power through another summer with curry!

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
