Peter Luger, Ebisu: The Seafood Platter Is the Reason to Book

A note on the words: a seafood platter is a chilled shellfish assortment served over a mound of ice, here loaded with fresh oysters, clams, shrimp, sea snails, half a lobster, and crabmeat. A T-bone steak is a thick cut featuring both tender filet mignon and juicy strip sirloin on opposite sides of a T-shaped bone, while a rib eye is a richly marbled cut known for deep beef flavor. Creamed spinach is a classic steakhouse side of spinach in a creamy sauce.

Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. I came back after a long while! Peter Luger Steak House Tokyo, just about a year since my last visit, I think. It is tucked into a corner of Yebisu Garden Place, and the red-brick warehouse-like exterior along with a pleasant little garden has a great feel to it!

By the way, the standout star of this day was the seafood platter. It is a dish piled high with fresh oysters, shrimp, sea snails, lobster, and crab over ice. I have rounded up the details on the price and contents in the section below!

I gave my name at reception and headed up to the third floor in the elevator!

Dishes to look for

Steak for four — 62,000 yen

Peter Luger Steak House Tokyo

It feels like it has gone up about 10% compared to a year ago, maybe?
For now, we ordered across the board from appetizers to seafood to steaks, and got started!

A la carte

First up, the appetizers.

Caesar salad, bacon, sliced tomato and onion

Caesar salad, bacon, sliced tomato and onion

Extraordinarily good. Seriously good. The Caesar salad is delicious in its own right, but the quality of the bacon is unbelievable. The savory aroma where it is slightly charred is irresistible. The tomato and onion are also fresh and tasty.

Seafood platter

Seafood platter

This is quite a portion!
Two raw oysters, two clams (I think they are probably hamaguri clams, but being American-style, maybe quahogs? ha), plus two shrimp, about four to six sea snails, half a lobster, and shredded crab in the center. All of it served piled over a bowl of ice — pure happiness!

Seafood platter

As for the price, as shown in the menu photo above, there are two sizes: regular for 24,000 yen / half for 12,000 yen (at the time of my visit). Incidentally, prices have now risen to regular 26,000 yen / half 13,000 yen (from the posted menu updated in July 2026). Like the steaks, prices seem to move at a pace of around 10% a year, so please check the restaurant’s official sources for the latest figures.

Bread

Bread

This bread, too, is delicious. If you eat too much of it, it will get in the way of the meat, so I held myself back while eating it! And bread arriving means that at long last, the meat… is about… to arrive…!

T-bone steak

T-bone steak

What an amount of meat.
Here is a rough portion served onto our plates.

T-bone steak

This was so good — wonderfully tender and juicy. Both the filet and the sirloin, thick as they are, yielded cleanly to the bite, bursting with savory flavor. There is steak sauce too, but having it just as it was felt right! Really delicious. We also ordered sides like spinach, German potatoes, and French fries, so we passed them around and took small portions of each. Ah, good steak brings genuine happiness. Eating good meat restores your energy!

Seasonal pie

Seasonal pie

If you order casually thinking, “Maybe I will have dessert!”, I think you will be surprised.
The portion is massive. A lavish pile of house-made whipped cream on top of the pie, with mango as the seasonal fruit.
The mango is extraordinarily sweet and delicious, and the whipped cream holds its own against it. You might expect it to feel quite heavy overall, but it is surprisingly easy to eat. That said, the serving is huge, so by the end I was pretty stuffed.

Thank you for the meal!

On the way out, I received the usual Peter Luger chocolate to take home, leaving with that luxurious feeling of having indulged a bit too much. Full to the brim, I walked to Ebisu Station to digest before heading home. Including the whole experience, it really stands a cut above the other overseas-born steak houses around here. It was truly delicious. Immensely satisfied! And the next day, I was reminded once again that good alcohol does not leave any hangover at all, ha.

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
