Thai Food and Live Singing at BANGKOK 77, Kabukicho

A note on the words: Kabukicho is Shinjuku’s nightlife quarter. Tom yum goong is the hot-and-sour Thai shrimp soup, som tam the green papaya salad, and por pia sod the fresh, unfried spring roll. Moo krob is crisp-fried pork belly. Prices are as of this writing (August 2026).

Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. Right — this time I had a bit of business in Kabukicho! It feels like a while since I was last there. Business done, the talk turned to going for something to eat. But is there anywhere good in Kabukicho? The hit rate seems as though it could swing wildly lol in a place like this. Well, there was a Thai restaurant that looked promising, so in we went.

The conclusion: this turned out to be a tremendously good shop lol

We rode a tiny elevator up to the fifth floor, and when the doors opened there was a mysterious space in the most extraordinary colors lol
And you can hear singing! Step inside and there is live singing on a stage, in Thai I think!!! Rather nice, no?

We were shown to something like a semi-private room at the back. The atmosphere is a little flashy, but it is a good spot.

You can pick and order from the menu on a tablet, which is easy.
We decided to order whatever we felt like, a la carte.

A la carte

Moo krob khua prik klua (2,500 yen)

From the name alone you have no idea what it is, but it is cubes of crisp-fried pork stir-fried with salt and chili.
One bite and I was astonished. This is extremely good. It is the real thing!
I had assumed the live singing was the main event, and the food is tremendous. Expectations are high!!!

Tom yum goong (1,800 yen)

Well! This is the real thing too! It has a flame under it, so it stays hot throughout.
One sip of the soup and it is delicious! The shrimp are plump and lovely.
A shop with good tom yum goong can be trusted!

Por pia sod (1,200 yen)

Fresh spring rolls!
Plenty of vegetables in these too. The springy wrapper and the sauce are both good, and the carrot is beautifully carved.
What is going on? To think there is a shop with live singing that also puts out Thai food this properly done.

Green papaya salad! I love this.
And the vessel, or rather the way it is plated, is stylish too. The sauce is good, and there is lemon tucked firmly into the crunchy salad. Rather nice. Thoroughly satisfied. Incidentally, around here we had a few Thai beers.

Thank you for the meal!

So: a shop we wandered into on a whim, and I recommend it enormously!!!
Above all the atmosphere of the place, staff included, and the live singing lol, and the food is thoroughly authentic, beautifully plated and delicious. To think such a shop existed in Kabukicho. The rating is surprisingly low, mind you. What is that about. Next time I am in Kabuki I shall drop in again.

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
