A note on the words: a wedge salad is a steak house classic made from a thick wedge of lettuce topped with dressing and bacon. Mesclun salad is a mixture of tender young leafy greens. Aged beef is beef held under controlled conditions to concentrate its savory umami and tenderize the meat.

BENJAMIN STEAK HOUSE Roppongi on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. Today’s lunch is at “BENJAMIN STEAK HOUSE Roppongi,” in the basement of the hotel remm, right by the Roppongi crossing. I wonder how many years it has been since my last visit… It feels like it was that long ago. I think I had a hamburger last time, but this time I’m having steak. Looking forward to it!

PRIX FIXE MENU — 7,700 yen

The choice I went with this time was the 7,700 yen course menu. It is set up in three courses: salad, soup, and a main.
For the salad, you can choose from mesclun salad, wedge salad, Caesar salad, or chopped salad; for the soup, from the Benjamin soup, onion soup, or lobster bisque. For the main, you can pick from beef steak, grilled salmon, lamb chops, or tuna steak. There are so many choices it is hard to decide!

I wondered what a wedge salad was, so I looked it up and found it is a salad of roughly cut lettuce.
Thinking it might well be something that often turns up at steak houses, ha, I ordered it. I wonder what kind of dressing this is; it is delicious, and it came with juicy bacon, so that felt like a lucky bonus. It was very good.

For the soup, of course I chose the Benjamin soup.
After all, it carries the restaurant’s name. It turns out to be a soup built on meat.
Rich and delicious — and the small pieces of beef in it are tasty too.

Is this around 150 grams, or maybe around 100 grams? It is plenty! Cutting into it with the knife and taking a bite: delicious.
The concentrated umami unique to aged beef and, above all, the tenderness are fantastic.
I was surprised by how tender it is, ha — it all but melts away. Delicious.
The grilled vegetables are cooked to perfection, bringing out their natural sweetness!
In terms of portion size, coming after the salad and soup, it was plenty. If asked whether I could eat a little more, I could, but for lunch this is more than enough! You can get refills of bread, too. As expected of a steak house, everything is thoroughly delicious.
A Roppongi steak house really never disappoints. The aged beef is delicious! It is on the pricier side, but I can certainly understand wanting to eat this kind of tender steak once in a while. I thought I would like to come back when the opportunity arises. Recommended.

I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
