A note on the words: yakiniku is the Japanese style of grilling bite-sized cuts of meat yourself over a charcoal or gas burner set into the table. Karubi is short rib and harami is outside skirt; mino is one of the beef stomachs, and horumon is a general word for beef offal. Namul are small Korean-style seasoned vegetable dishes, and kkakdugi is kimchi made from daikon radish cut into cubes. Chijimi is a savory pan-fried batter cake, close to a Korean pajeon. Ashitaba is a leafy green grown on the Izu Islands.

Sanzenri on Tabelog (English) — opening hours, payment details and the Japanese address are kept up to date there, not here.
Hello, this is Hangover Meshi. So, it was my last night on Hachijojima. I looked around a bit wondering what to eat, and it felt like I had been having nothing but fish the whole time, so — let us finish with yakiniku! I searched, found “Sanzenri,” and booked a table for right after opening. Called a taxi and went straight to the place. Glad they had room. Apparently there was a sports-day event on the island that day, so all the islanders were going out for a well-done-everyone dinner, and I had been told that without a reservation it would be dicey. Glad I got one!

The cow saying “pleased to meet you” is cute.

The shop’s own No. 1 recommendation has been taped over, ha. What a shame, ha.
At a yakiniku place the first thing has to be draft beer, right! They serve it in a frosted glass, which is a delight!

Right — let us get grilling!

Mmm! Yakiniku eaten when you have been craving meat is the best! Every cut is properly good! Delicious!

Namul to nibble on, too. Cabbage namul is not something you see all that often, maybe? Usually it is the three kinds without this one. ^^

The premium sirloin is a nice cut! Lean meat with a good deep flavor.

What I actually wanted was the ashitaba kimchi, but it happened to be sold out. Such a shame!!

That is quite a quantity… ha.

This is what they call kkakdugi. Crisp and delicious!

Since the No. 1 was not available, ha, the No. 2: seafood chijimi. Pretty substantial, and it fills you right up!

Well now, I ate rather more than I had planned. ^^ Beer plus yakiniku really is the best combination. I had properly restored the fatigue of the trip while still on the trip, by taking on meat, so the next day I could head home feeling fresh and well, which was good. If I ever come back to Hachijojima and find myself wanting meat, this is a place I would consider again. ^^

Tabelog dinner rating ★★★☆☆ 3.3
I ate here and paid for it myself. Nothing on this site is a comped meal.
