Pufferfish restaurant “Itsumi” in Akasaka. Of course, I had never been there before, but I noticed that they were open for lunch, so I decided to give it a go.
It’s an old-school atmosphere, and the evening course was about 30,000 yen, so I didn’t get a chance to go there often, but the lunch was 1500 yen! Reasonable!
Tempura set meal: 1,500 yen
This restaurant has only one dish for lunch. The menu seems to change every day, but today’s tempura set meal of fugu, bamboo shoots, and wild vegetables is 1500 yen.
When you enter the restaurant, you will be let through to a room, but it’s a pretty big private room.
They didn’t particularly ask me what I wanted to order, so I waited a while for the tea to be served.
You may be a little nervous at first, but it’s a one-course meal, so it seems to come out on its own once you’re seated. I waited a long time and here is what came out.
A large tempura of blowfish, bamboo shoots and wild vegetables.
Then, miso soup with red miso soup and seasonal bamboo shoot rice! Thinking about it now, I don’t think I’ve ever had fugu tempura. It’s very common when it’s fried.
Rice with bamboo shoots has a strong aroma and is good. The saltiness is understated but goes well with tempehura. Fugu tempura is delicious with fluffy white flesh. It comes with tempura sauce, but I think I want to eat it with salt. It would have been nice if they had left some salt on the desk.
And the tempura of bamboo shoots is very delicious.
Hokuyaku and sweet bamboo shoots are the taste of spring. Do you want more of the rice from the staff? this and that. The rice with bamboo shoots can be refilled!
My belly was also very satisfied.
Lunch time is 11:30~14:00! Now, they only allow one pair of people in one private room, so I recommend going early because I think it’s going to be pretty full by late hours!
